Participants will have the opportunity to push the boundaries of aesthetics and innovation, with the top designs garnering not only recognition but also tremendous admiration within the automotive community.

Contest Outline

Art of Wheels is a celebration of art and engineering for the automotive industry. It embodies a signature rim design competition where designers have a rare opportunity to create artistic designs to meet the rapidly growing lifestyle needs of the alloy wheel market. 

 

In this competition, designers will incorporate the use of alloy to a new level of functionality, aesthetic quality and user experience. Design features should highlight alloy’s lightweight features while remaining fashionable, low mass and provide feasible concepts that automakers and customers would love. 

Objective

To attract and cultivate creative talent individuals as a source for production design, especially in automotive industry.

 

To discover and elevate the potential of fashion statement in automotive through art and engineering celebration.

How To Enter?

Entry Requirements: 

Entry Fees (RM300 Per Entry) & Taskwork

 

Entry Task: 

Design a set of rims for ANY kind of Sport Car

 

Submission:  

  1. Rim Design with 2D Graphics/Sketches and Technical Drawings, with Front View, Side View, Rear View, and Datasheet.
  2. Mock Up
  3. Name and Curatorial Rationale for the Rim Design

Step 1

Attend the gathering held on 7 Oct in GLM Showroom, and wait for the result of whether you are shortlisted for Phase 2.

You will also have a chance to meet the dedicated car owner randomly drawn by the organizer.

Step 2

Read the brief and understand the requirements of this phase. The briefing will also be conducted in 7 Oct gathering.

Step 3

Start the design process according to the rim specification of the car model.

Each Car Owner and selected 3 participants will be invited into a Whatsapp group, together with the organizer representative as admin. The Car Owner and Participants may have a deeper discussion in the chat group from 7 Oct to 2 Dec.

Step 4

The organizer will conduct an online preview session for car owners and participants on 28 Oct to 17 Nov respectively.
 
Participants are advised to prepare artwork and seek consultation from the dedicated Car Owner.

Step 5

Submit your documents based on the requirement of contest brief (phase 2) before 4 Dec 2023 MYT 23.59pm
